United in Gratitude
In the heart of autumn, where the past and present meet,
A proclamation echoed from 1621’s seat,
Religious and civilian leaders sowed a seed,
A day of thanks for plenty, a day to take heed.
In 1789, by Washington’s decree,
The first national proclamation, a Thanksgiving jubilee.
His pen on parchment, making this American date,
Sealing this blessed holiday in these our States.
On November’s fourth Thursday, as winter nears its birth,
Evacuation Day echoes, marking British dearth.
From the Thirteen Colonies, the fledgling nation rose,
In gratitude we gather, as the story goes.
We bow our heads in gratitude, savor the bountiful feast,
Reflecting on the journey, from the greatest to the least.
From the city’s hustle to the whispering country glade,
In every corner of the land, memories are made.
The air is ripe with turkey’s scent and sweet pumpkin delight,
A symphony of laughter under the zsoft candlelight.
Thanksgiving is a tribute, a testament to our past,
A day for humble gratitude, a tradition meant to last.
Our nation’s strength, common ideals we hold so dear,
Are echoed in our celebrations, year after year.
For the promise of America, the liberty we share,
We give our heartfelt thanks, in this autumnal air.
