I watch and wish,
to help I would,
but help I cant.
Your pain I see,
your plea I hear,
if it were up too me,
your troubles I would bear.
I wish -- you won't,
level the veil
and to your wails
I must hear and not respond.
Knowing this and
something more
I offer and lend my ear,
if nothing more.
I hope and pray
that this is enough
to help cope
and to give a ray
If more I could,
my fif you would,
I will.
If nothing,
this is nothing less;
your stance, your strength
-- a standard to follow.
