Harry S. Truman: A Steady Hand

History called him in war’s final flame,

A plainspoken man, not chasing fame.

Rising from modest Missouri land,

Resolute leader with a steady hand.

Yearning for peace, yet ready to stand.

Signed off on choices both heavy and grave,

Trials of nations, he had to brave.

Rebuilt the world with Marshall’s plan,

United the West, drew freedom’s span.

Made the tough calls, no shirking the strain,

A man who believed truth must remain.

Never forgot that the buck stopped with him.
