Today, we remember a man who did not seek glory but earned it with every quiet, resolute step.  Born on April 27, 1822, Ulysses S. Grant rose from humble beginnings to become a general who held the Union together and a president who fought to heal it.

He stood in an age torn by war and division — not for conquest, but for unity.  This poem is offered in his honor — a tribute to his strength, sacrifice, and enduring legacy.

Grant: Ending Chains

Under thunder, cannons roared,

Legions marched where duty soared.

Years of war, his trial came,

Sworn to fight in freedom’s name.

Strength he bore with steady hand,

Ending chains across the land.

Silent stood, yet led with might.

Grant restored a union torn,

Rising from the battle-worn.

Armies bowed to his command,

Nation healed by his firm stand.

Time may pass, tho we seek to understand.
